The Vets Strike Back at the Forest Lake High School Disinformation Campaign

March 27th, 2008 – 9:36 PM

HEY FOLKS, I’M LAID UP AT HOME, AND CAN”T PICK UP A PEN TODAY. PLEASE KEEP THE CONVERSATION GOING AND I”LL TUNE IN AND SEE WHAT YOU’VE GOT GOING. EXPECT “THINK AGAIN” TO BE BACK TOMORROW.

Vets for Freedom – a group of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans on a tour of the country — were disinvited from Forest Lake High School by administrators on Monday. These heroes are entitled to an honest answer about the reason for this perverse lack of courtesy.

Instead, they’re on the receiving end of a full-press disinformation campaign.

The brouhaha began when principal Steve Massey cancelled the vets’ appearance because of what the school described as about two dozen calls opposing their visit. Some of these apparently mentioned the possibility of protest.

The school’s resulting cave-in to this political pressure didn’t play well with the public, so administrators subsequently floated different versions of the story. Their common theme — blame it on the vets.

Initially, Massey insisted that he cancelled the vets’ meeting with high school social studies students because the vets surprised him and tried  to turn their visit into a political event. The group had announced a press conference at the last minute – an unacceptable situation, he suggested.

“We had been excited about the vets coming,” Massey told the Star Tribune. “Then, lo and behold, they schedule a news conference on our campus. Time out.”

That’s flat wrong, says Pete Hegseth, Vets for Freedom director. Vets for Freedom didn’t plan a press conference, but a low-key “media availability” at their bus before the event with students.

Massey wasn’t caught off guard by this, adds Hegseth – he approved it in advance.

“We were hoping a few local reporters – like from the Forest Lake Times – would show up and talk to some of the guys at the bus before the event started,” explains Hegseth.

Today, Lynn Steenblock, Forest Lake School District superintendent, provided a different spin. The school called off the event for an unimpeachable reason — it threatened “student safety,” he told the Star Tribune.

“There could have been many reasons to cancel this event,” responds Hegseth. “But the very last one is security. It’s a complete sham argument. I was told the event was cancelled because of ‘political pressure.’ Security was not part of the reason cited to me.”

Hegseth has tried repeatedly to reach Steenblock since the cancellation, he says, but Steenblock has not responded. On Thursday, Steenblock told the Star Tribune that he’s worries Forest Lake is being viewed as “anti-veteran.” Go figure.

Forest Lake High School officials aren’t the only ones who want you to think Vets for Freedom’s decorated heroes are a threat to security. Loony left groups like the Center for Media and Democracy apparently charge that the organization began as a Republican front group managed by White House insiders.

A Bush White House front group? Listen to this endorsement from a liberal Democrat – Rep. Brian Baird of Washington:

Vets for Freedom speaks with unique authority and is an essential non-partisan voice supporting those who are committed to success in Iraq.

“If we were a White House front group, we should have been awash in cash in our infancy,” says Hegseth. In fact, the group was started by a handful of vets and initially could hardly make ends meet. “We had one staff member, and he could barely pay his own salary,” says Hegseth. “He literally put down his own credit card to start the organization.”

To suggest that Vets for Freedom marches lock-step in support of the Bush administration is equally untrue. When Hegseth returned from his tour in Iraq in Oct. 2006, he slammed the Bush administration’s strategy in Iraq in a high-profile piece for the Wall Street Journal.

White House puppet-masters weren’t watching closely enough, I guess.

Hegseth and his fellow vets have seen plenty in combat, and this dust-up won’t set them back. For their part, Forest Lake High administrators should come clean, and acknowledge – as they did initially – that political pressure forced some of our most courageous vets out of a Minnesota public school.

It’s a shame—but at least it’s the truth.

Now that the Superintendent at Forest Lake High has declared that an appearance by veterans is a threat to “student safety,” I wonder what the next howler from this bunch will be. Perhaps veterans are a potential health threat, a threat to public morals, not educated sufficiently to interact with the intelligensia at Forest Lake High.

I want to know why Nick Coleman couldn’t have taken a minute to call one of these vets before trashing them based on loony, conspiracy theory web sites.

This group defines itself as supporting continued U.S. involvement in the region of Iraq and Afghanistan.

I would not want them talking to impressionable youths under any circumstances. Children need to be protected. It’s as simple as that.

How… progressive of you.

It sad to see that the looney left has that much control over our public schools. We need to bring patriotism back, and our students deserve to understand the sacrifices our heroic Vets have made for our country.

Comrade Nick Coleman’s front page editorial yesterday on the topic was disturbing, and I see why the Strib’s circulation is going down with guys like him getting paid to spew liberal trash like that. Michele Bachmann decided to show her support for the Vets which is admirable, and democrats like Keith Ellison could have done the same, but I don’t think they share the same appreciation or respect for our Vets.

So we “protect children” by denying them access to true heroes? by telling them lies about the USA? by blaming the USA for all the world’s ills? by refusing to teach all the good the US does?

The same institution, public schools, who deny any form of support for the USA are so very quick to force elementary children to learn about same-sex marriage. What about protecting kids from this?

Wake up - every freedom we have is at stake and you can’t listen to the guys who put their lives on the line for you?

How selfish can you get?

As for Steenblock and Massey - cowards all. Then again, that’s the education world today - comprised of lefties from the 60’s who couldn’t get jobs where they would be held accountable.

leland8 says “I would not want them talking to impressionable youths under any circumstances.”

I can’t tell whether this poster is posting tongue in cheek or not.

How come youths become impressionable when decorated military veterans talk to them in their social studies classes one time, but are largely impervious to violent video games and movies they might play / watch 20 hours a week?

These same kids are supposed to be able to make mature decisions about their sexuality — but they can’t interact with some guys (and maybe gals) who serve in the military?

I thought education involved exposure to different points of view. Heaven forbid these raging Rambos turn out to be sensible, intelligent, caring, freedom defending and choice loving people. Impressionable children might be impressed!

So — then who are the politicizers and more importantly why do they seek to censor?

(Note to the school — let the censors protest. All 10 of them. It would be an educational experience for the kids to discuss in social studies.)

Hey I hated some presidents in my time but nothing at this level.

I love the fact that this has degenerated into a typical either you are with us or against us argument. So much for the middle road and the facts. I believe that the veterans are noble in serving their country and are doing honorable service. But when you have a politician showing up - then you inject politics. Keep Michele Bachman away and I support the event. Bring her or any other - Amy Klobuchar, Norm Coleman and you make it a political statement……

my dear feind le8 is absolutely correct. the children have to be protected. in addition to being protectected, the need to be informed. thats why it should be made mandatory that the schools show each class dutch politician gert wilder’s recently released film “fitna” (liveleak.com). it is a short 16 minute film that holds a mirror up to isalm and cowardly liberal regressive politicians that refuse to confront the menace of political islam.

after the kids have seen the film, then the soldiers should visit the school and talk to the kids once the kids understand the evil the soldiers are trying to protect us from.

Wish I could attend with my Impressionable kid. I know all the conversations with her WWII & Korean War Vet Grandpa have been a wonderful influence on her. I think she feels well protected knowing that there are men and women out there like grandpa keeping her safe from what she sees on the news.
Now the city of Forest Lake needs to sit down with the school board and figure out a way to get past this. If it was my local school district hemming and hawing on the reason for cancelling the event I would welcome a recall.

We’ll see how the press and democrats handle this new “offensive” in Iraq. The Iraq boys needed a little air support and the HEADS on MSNBC where saying that indicates they are losing.

Really. More like they probably have a bunch trapped and are giving them the “what for”.

Now if the Iraqis don’t go after the Shiite radicals then the Press and Dems would say they are not doing enough.

Again I ask…how can we ever win.

It always sickens me when the hysterical masses decide their one issue needs to be worked out through the public schools. I don’t like it when anti-war protestors do it, I don’t like it when anti-evolutionists do it, and I don’t like it when people far from said public school obtain a phone number for a school and lodge their complaints.

(I hate to even add this next part, because it is my policy to pretend leland doesn’t exist…) Our children need to be protected from dull, meaningless, rote learning and exposed to a multitude of ideas. Anyone who has ever taught an 18 year old student knows, they aren’t all that impressionable. Furthermore, if parents truly object to something taught in school, they always, always, always have the right to pull their children from a class activity or assignment.

Lastly, let’s not make this a left v. right argument. I am among many lefties who love our war heroes and believe we need to make something good out of Iraq. And, to be fair, for many on the right, the extent to which they “support our troops” ends at the sticker on their bumper.

This is a high school. We are talking about individuals that are on the brink of what we call adulthood. Nearly all students in their senior year can participate in political caucuses if they will be 18 by the time of the election - and in fact can go on to be delegates at the state convention! These are children to which we provide condums for “their protection”. It amazes me what we can do in the name of protecting the children.
I want my kids to grow up to be critical thinkers - to be able to hear a view even if it differs from the one they hear at home - so they have a good foundation to make up their own minds. I fear that is not what we see represented in the public schools today.

“Hooray for a Michigan State professor!

The story begins at Michigan State University
with a mechanical engineering professor named
Indrek Wichman

Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student’s Association.
The e-mail was in response to the students’ protest
of the Danish cartoons
that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist.
The group had complained the cartoons were
‘hate speech.’
Enter Professor Wichman.
In his e-mail, he said the following:
Dear Muslim Association,
As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU
I intend to protest your protest.
I am offended not by cartoons,
but by more mundane things like beheadings of civilians,
cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murders,
murders of Catholic priests (the latest inTurkey),
burnings of Christian churches,
the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt,
the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims,
the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women (called ‘whores’ in your culture),
the murder of film directors in Holland,
and the rioting and looting in Paris, France.
This is what offends me,
a soft-spoken person and academic,
and many, many of my colleagues.
I counsel you dissatisfied, aggressive, brutal,
and uncivilized slave-trading Muslims
to be very aware of this as you proceed
with your infantile ‘protests.’
If you do not like the values of the West
- see the 1st Amendment -
you are free to leave.
I hope for God’s sake
that most of you choose that option
Please return to your ancestral homelands
and build them up yourselves instead of troubling Americans.
Cordially,
I. S. Wichman
Professor of Mechanical Engineering
As you can imagine,
the Muslim group at the university didn’t like this too well.
They’re demanding that Wichman be reprimanded
and the university impose mandatory diversity training for faculty
and mandate a seminar on hate and discrimination for all freshmen.
Now the local chapter of CAIR has jumped into the fray.
CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations,
apparently doesn’t believe that the good professor
had the right to express his opinion.
For its part,
the university is standing its ground
in support of Professor Wichman,
saying the e-mail was private,
and they don’t intend to publicly condemn his remarks.”

I have to agree with G.S.A.H.A.’s 9:01 post. Our children are told war stories all the time by their loving grandparents.

leland8 says, “Children need to be protected.” These are high school age kids we’re talking about. I consider children to be in elementary or middle school. High-schoolers are almost adults and should have some resources available to them to experience how to think for themselves.

If we’re going to keep topic groups of this sort away from our kids, then we need to keep our kids out of visiting nursing homes also. Think of the war stories they’re going to hear in there.

My son is in the Marines, and every time he’s home on leave, he visits his alma mater and talks to the kids about what it’s like in Iraq. He’s been deployed twice so far and is scheduled to go back soon. Each time he checks with his alma mater to see if it’s okay to talk to the kids and each time they’ve let him speak. This next time he visits the teenagers, he’ll have his wife with him and she can also tell the kids about her deployment in Iraq also.

Some of today’s kids have the wrong idea as to what a hero is.

Yes, one doesn’t have to support the war in Iraq to realize our soldiers deserve our support and respect. And anyone who would send these fine men and women sworn to protect the US into senseless, endless meat-grinders that only serve to needlessly get them maimed and killed while emptying the national treasury is making a mockery of the need to fight for and defend our country from real enemies and not the expendable ex-allies and imagined boogie men of your fevered nightmares.

I have no doubt that it would help you feel more like a real man to start killing people in Iran and Syria, or rather to send others to do the killing for you, but because cave dwellers flailing their arms somewhere on the other side of the planet scares you isn’t a very good reason for mass murder. Calling it Mass Murder for Peace and Democracy promotes neither, and turns moderates that may have been your allies against you and the next wave of surviving youths into sworn enemies. Brilliant strategy, that.

Only an impotent, paranoid, bed-wetter looks at the bombings in Madrid and London, the riots in France, the murder of a playwright in Amsterdam, the social unrest in great Britain, and the attempt to have a teacher killed in Sudan and thinks we need to use our military rather than their justice systems to deal with it.

The “many Muslims arrested in this country” charged with plotting to commit or aid terrorism still pales against the actual acts of terrorism committed in the US by middle-aged white guys.

To get your undies in a panicked bunch because of some fatwas by Muslim clerics half a planet away to have any critic of Islam killed is giving them exactly what they want; someone to crap their pants every time they say BOO and legitimize them by panicking.

This person is not just a coward AND a fool, but a person so consumed by an irrational fear of unrealistic threats that they need others to kill and be killed on a mass scale for even a small reprieve from night sweats, and they need everyone else to pay for it.

That person is pathetic.

Unfortunately for him the circus came to town anyway. I stand by yesterday’s assertion that it would have been educational for students to witness the fracas. Opportunity missed.
It’s amazing how quickly some folks on both “sides” of this deal jump to paranoid conclusions. You have wingnuts on the pro-war side alleging that the schools are unilaterally controlled by liberals bent on indoctrinating kids as pacifists and you have anti-war wingnuts alleging that a group like Vets for Freedom could only be pawns of the Bush administration. iamme has called me a “wet noodle” which is a flaccid male appendage. The name “wet noodle” should not be confused with the starchy, little carbohydrate thing, that’s in a hot-dish, or something. That would be derogatory and offensive to me, because of my moral opposition to starch. In the other hand, I am not opposed to the male appendage in any form. In fact, I like my appendage quite a bit.

Now, I think G.Elliot has implied that I have developed a false woman-hating, bagel bashing persona. It is quite true, I have bashed the bagel, because of all the harm it has caused. It is the starch contained in the bagel, that is the true culprit. Now most men have observed women who have a starch overload. It is frightening to deal with a woman with that mental condition. Now, chronic starch overload has caused many a woman to live bizarre unhappy lives, evidenced to no small degree by the women who frequently post on this blog. Besides the chronic psychological impairment, there is of course, the problem with these women becoming fat. At that point there is no man to love them, thereby exacerbating the problem. This is a sad, vicious cycle these poor women must endure, and my heart goes out to them. My heart goes out even more to the men who must put up with them.

Contrary to the idea that I hate women, I do in fact love them immensely, despite all the grief they have caused men and all the problems they have created throughout human history, and continue to cause today. Now, impaired by starch as never before, they are the cause of most every human misery in the world. Still, this is not a hopeless situation, because I can help them.

What I do know? On 7/14/06 Hezbollah (sorry, I forgot Hamas launches their rockets from the West Bank) launched over 100 rockets into Israel, provoking Israel’s response.

It’s terrible that civillians got killed on both sides, but Israel was not the aggressor. As I see it, Hezbollah deserves most of the credit for costing those civillians their lives.

KK writes, For their part, Forest Lake High administrators should come clean, and acknowledge – as they did initially – that political pressure forced some of our most courageous vets out of a Minnesota public school.

Wrong,KK, this was not about the veterans, but about the organization. If you truly believe that VFV is a non-partisan group, check this web site: http://www.sourcewatch “dot” org/index “dot” php?title=Vets_for_Freedom

Here is clear evidence that VFV is a pro-war group with very close ties to the Bush White House and Republican operatives.

And you still have not answered my question. If the FLHS presentation was supposed to be a “non-political” event “closed to the public,” why was Congresswoman Bachmann going to be present? Is she a veteran? No. Is she a member of the public? Yes. Oh, I forgot, she’s a Republican who supports the war.

So much for a non-political event closed to the public.

Finally, KK, if an anti-war group had been scheduled to make a non-political presentation at the school with war veterans as speakers and that event had been cancelled under similar circumstances, would you be this upset? I suspect not.

Excerpts from “War is a Racket” by

Two-Time Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Major General Smedley D. Butler - USMC:

“War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small ‘inside’ group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.”

“I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight, then we’ll fight. The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns six percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag.

“I wouldn’t go to war again as I have done to protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes, and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket.

“There isn’t a trick in the racketeering bag that the military gang is blind to. It has its “finger men” to point out enemies, its “muscle men” to destroy enemies, its “brain men” to plan war preparations, and a “Big Boss” Super-Nationalistic-Capitalism.”

the movie largely shows footage of terrorist attacks and footage of imams and muslims in the street protesting against anything that offends them. (what a massive list that is). here are some reactions to the film:

The Organization of the Islamic Conference added its voice to the growing criticism of a film released by a Dutch lawmaker, which features disturbing images of terrorist acts superimposed over verses from holy Quran.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sat: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad called upon Muslims worldwide to boycott Dutch products in protest of a film released Monday on the Internet which criticised Islam’s holy book, the Quran.

Morocco’s Communications Minister Khalid Naciri said Wilders was “mentally retarded”.

Pakistan has summoned the Dutch ambassador in Islamabad to lodge a protest over a controversial film on Islam, Fitna, published online.

are all these people mombers of the “tiny minority”

do any of these islamic organiztions comment on the films subject matter ?? of course not. they cant. wilders barely included any original material. he simply compiled video of imams and the carnage caused by those who cite the quoran as their inspiration. yet muslims are outraged.

they are just like our friend and fellow blogger clarence, they have no way to counter the facts, so they attack the messanger

stevek says:

March 29th, 2008 at 10:08 am

Iran called the film heinous, blasphemous and anti-Islamic and called on European governments to block any further showing.

Mr. Stevek and Mr. Dare2, It would be my pleasure to meet you both, someday. Thanks for bringing up the idea.

Regarding the film clip, I was unable to view it.

I think the protest over the anti-Islamic clip is similar to when Jewish people protest expressions of anti-Jewish sentiment. In most of Europe and Canada, discussions about the holocaust, which questions the historic event, are largely banned. Same is true in the US, not by law, but through pressure from various groups. It even is difficult to have a discussion in the US, about the influence of the Israeli lobby in Washington. So, there is plenty of censorship and pressure for censorship, that goes on all the time. I could cite other examples.

The film apparently depicted a direct attack upon Islam. To directly attack some one’s religion is about as low and as repugnant as one can go. It should be no surprise that people would be offended. To make threats against people showing the film is always wrong, but the emotion provoked is certainly understandable.

‘On 1 May 2007, the Center for Economic and Policy Research of Washington, DC, released a study prepared by the economic and political forecasting company Global Insight on the long-term economic impact of increased military spending. Guided by economist Dean Baker, this research showed that, after an initial demand stimulus, by about the sixth year the effect of increased military spending turns negative. The US economy has had to cope with growing defence spending for more than 60 years. Baker found that, after 10 years of higher defence spending, there would be 464,000 fewer jobs than in a scenario that involved lower defence spending.

Baker concluded: “It is often believed that wars and military spending increases are good for the economy. In fact, most economic models show that military spending diverts resources from productive uses, such as consumption and investment, and ultimately slows economic growth and reduces employment”’

1998–Ellison first runs for DFL endorsement for state representative. Ellison identifies himself as member of Nation of Islam in Insight News article on his candidacy. Ellison runs for endorsement under alias “Keith Ellison-Muhamm*d.” This is the Insight News article; click to enlarge:

2000–Ellison gives speech supporting Kathleen Soliah/Sara Jane Olson at National Lawyers Guild fundraiser. Demands Soliah/Olson’s release. Asks audience to recall time when “Qubilah Shabazz was prosecuted in retribution against Minister Farrakhan.” Speaks favorably of cop killers Mumia Abu-Jamal and Assata Shakur.

May 2006–Ellison writes letter to JCRC asserting involvement with Nation of Islam limited to 18 months supporting Million Man March.

August 2006–Ellison appears at unpublicizied fundraiser with CAIR executive director and Hamas supporter Nihad Awad among featured guests.

What are we to make of this? Take a look at Ellison’s May 28 letter to the Jewish Community Relations Council; it has served as the keystone of his campaign. That letter to the contrary notwithstanding, the documents posted above nevertheless by themselves establish that 1) Ellison’s involvement with the Nation of Islam exceeded any 18-month period, 2) Ellison’s involvement with the Nation of Islam extended far beyond the promotion of the Million Man March, and 3) that Ellison himself, far from being ignorant of the Nation of Islam’s anti-Semitism, actively supported it.

The steadfast refusal of the local Minnesota media to examine Ellison’s public record in the course of his congressional campaign represents a striking case of nonfeasance, incompetence and willfully averted eyes that is a story unto itself.

No churches should be permitted in Saudi Arabia, unless Pope Benedict XVI recognised the prophet Mohammed, according to a Middle East expert.

While Saudi mediators are working with the Vatican on negotiations to allow places of religious worship, some experts believe it will not occur without this recognition.

Anwar Ashiqi, president of the Saudi centre for Middle East strategic studies, endorsed this view in an interview on the site of Arab satellite TV network, al-Arabiya on Thursday.

“I haven taken part in several meetings related to Islamic-Christian dialogue and there have been negotiations on this issue,” he said.

“It would be possible to launch official negotiations to construct a church in Saudi Arabia only after the Pope and all the Christian churches recognise the prophet Mohammed.”

“If they don`t recognise him as a prophet, how can we have a church in the Saudi kingdom?”

MUSLIM bus driver told stunned passengers to get off so he could PRAY.

The white Islamic convert rolled out his prayer mat in the aisle and knelt on the floor facing Mecca.

Passengers watched in amazement as he held out his palms towards the sky, bowed his head and began to chant.

One, who filmed the man on his mobile phone, said: “He was clearly praying and chanting in Arabic.

The 21-year-old plumber added: “He looked English and had a London accent. He looked like a Muslim convert, with a big, bushy beard.

“Eventually everyone started complaining. One woman said, ‘What the hell are you doing? I’m going to be late for work’.”

After a few minutes the driver calmly got up, opened the doors and asked everyone back on board.

But they saw a rucksack lying on the floor of the red single-decker and feared he might be a fanatic. So they all refused.

Muslims students at the University of Miami have organized for the Islamic call to prayer, broadcasted each Friday afternoon this month from Richter Library’s clock tower in commemoration of Islamic Awareness Month.

The call to prayer, or Adhan, is spoken in Arabic and is meant to resonate throughout the area.

“It serves as constant reminder of when we have to pray, because prayer itself is a reminder of our religion and how we practice it,” said Selima Jumarali, the vice president of the organization.

According to the teachings of Islam, Muslims are to pray five times a day. In Muslim-majority countries, the call is usually performed live by an individual and is heard before every prayer.

Friday afternoon was chosen as the time to play the call because “it revolves around the day of congregational prayer,” Jumarali said. Like Saturday for Jews or Sunday for Christians, Friday “holds strong significance for Muslims,” she said.

Outside the library last Friday, students listened during the three-minute recording.

From Jidah Watch:

When Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone:
United States — Muslim 1.0%
Australia — Muslim 1.5%
Canada — Muslim 1.9%
China — Muslim 1%-2%
Italy — Muslim 1.5%
Norway — Muslim 1.8%

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs:
Denmark — Muslim 2%
Germany — Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom — Muslim 2.7%
Spain — Muslim 4%
Thailand — Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. They will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply. At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law.
France — Muslim 8%
Philippines — Muslim 5%
Sweden — Muslim 5%
Switzerland — Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands — Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad & Tobago — Muslim 5.8%

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions (Paris — car-burnings) . Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats (Amsterdam — Mohammed cartoons).
Guyana — Muslim 10%
India — Muslim 13.4%
Israel — Muslim 16%
Kenya — Muslim 10%
Russia — Muslim 10-15%

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning:
Ethiopia — Muslim 32.8%

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare:
Bosnia — Muslim 40%
Chad — Muslim 53.1%
Lebanon — Muslim 59.7%

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels:
Albania — Muslim 70%
Malaysia — Muslim 60.4%
Qatar — Muslim 77.5%
Sudan — Muslim 70%

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide:
Bangladesh — Muslim 83%
Egypt — Muslim 90%
Gaza — Muslim 98.7%
Indonesia — Muslim 86.1%
Iran — Muslim 98%
Iraq — Muslim 97%
Jordan — Muslim 92%
Morocco — Muslim 98.7%
Pakistan — Muslim 97%
Palestine — Muslim 99%
Syria — Muslim 90%
Tajikistan — Muslim 90%
Turkey — Muslim 99.8%

100% will usher in the peace of “Dar-es-Salaam” — the Islamic House of Peace — there’s supposed to be peace because everybody is a Muslim:
Afghanistan — Muslim 100%
Saudi Arabia — Muslim 100%
Somalia — Muslim 100%
Yemen — Muslim 99.9%

“Release of Fitna is causing panic in Dutch political circles. Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende says Wilders’ movie “threatens the nation.”

Wrong.

It is Islamic violence which threatens Holland and all of Europe. Exactly as in the 1930s, it is the weakness of European leaders which allows the threat to grow. Just as the League of Nations refused to stand up to fascism in pre-WW2 Europe, the United Nations grovels before Islam today.

But they do more that grovel. Out of fear they have actually taken up the work of Islam and are enforcing the Islamic law against “blasphemy” while the Islamists stand by approvingly. The role of the world’s leaders of Liberal Democracy in enforcing Islamic Law echoes the Koranic description of Armageddon (al-Malhamah al-Kubrah in Arabic). In it, Jesus returns to Earth at Damascus, becomes a Muslim and leads the Muslims in slaughtering all the Christians and Jews. As the Hadith explains;

“When the liar [the Christian enemies of Islam] will see Jesus, he will start dissolving like the salt in water.”

Apparently the Islamists expect that civil libertarians will similarly “dissolve” in the face of their leaders’ treachery.

“Yes, there will be strident criticism and staunch opposition to any attempt to expose Islamofascism for what it is. And the most strident criticism and the staunchest opposition will not come from the OIC and the mullahs of Darul Uloom, Deoband, but from those who wilfully ignore facts to foist fiction which encourages bigoted hate mongers to typecast those who are appalled by Islamofascism as Islamophobes. The protest will primarily come from two quarters:

# The Lib-Left intelligentsia, which continues to labour under the self-perpetuating myth that all of Islam is a religion of peace and only an insignificant, fringe minority is to be blamed for distorting the great faith that was born in the sterile sands of Arabia; and,

# The so-called moderate Muslims who till now have skilfully used doublespeak to position themselves as representatives of the ummah, more so in liberal democracies. Their status is now seriously threatened by those who have no hesitation in acknowledging the true nature of Islam both as a faith and a weapon of subjugation.

Those who believe in liberty and freedom of thought need not fear either. Being charged with Islamophobia is a small price to pay for securing our future.

Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.
There’s nothing you can do that can’t be done.
Nothing you can sing that can’t be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It’s easy.
There’s nothing you can make that can’t be made.
No one you can save that can’t be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be in time
It’s easy.
All you need is hate, all you need is hate,
All you need is hate, hate, hate is all you need.
Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.
All you need is hate, all you need is hate,
All you need is hate, hate, hate is all you need.
There’s nothing you can know that isn’t known.
Nothing you can see that isn’t shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be.
It’s easy.
All you need is hate, all you need is hate,
All you need is hate, hate, hate is all you need.
All you need is hate (all together now)
All you need is hate (everybody)
All you need is hate, hate, hate is all you need.

You won’t be leaving with me
And afterwards we drop into a quiet little place
And have a drink or two
And then i go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid
Like: “i hate you”

I can see it in your eyes, that you despise the same old lies
You heard the night before
And though it’s just a line to you, for me it’s true
It never seemed so right before

I practice every day to find some clever lines to say
To make the meaning come through
But then i think i’ll wait until the evening gets late
And i’m alone with you

The time is right your perfume fills my head, the stars get red
And oh the night’s so blue
And then i go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid
Like: “i hate you”

NEW YORK, N.Y. — On any given day, log on to RevolutionMuslim.com and a host of startling images appear:

— The Statue of Liberty, with an ax blade cutting through her side;

— Video mocking the beheading of American journalist Daniel Pearl, entitled “Daniel Pearl I am Happy Your Dead :) “;

— Video of a puppet show lampooning U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq;

— The latest speech from Sheikh Abdullah Faisal, an extremist Muslim cleric convicted in the UK and later deported for soliciting the murder of non-Muslims.

Even more surprising is that RevolutionMuslim.com isn’t being maintained in some remote safe house in Pakistan. Instead, Yousef al-Khattab, the Web site creator, runs it from his home in the New York City Borough of Queens.

Rep. Hoekstra: Don’t Bow to Muslim Threats

The U.S. and the West must not be intimidated into curtailing free speech that might be offensive to radical Muslims, Rep. Peter Hoekstra declares.

In an Op-Ed piece in The Wall Street Journal, Hoekstra, R-Mich., cites the example of the anti-Islamic film “Fitna,” produced by Geert Wilders, a member of the Dutch parliament who has called for the banning of the Quran in the Netherlands.

Because of the film, the Netherlands is bracing for violence from Muslims at home and at embassies in the Middle East.

Wilders’ Internet service provider has bowed to the threats and taken down his Web site, although a political party in the Czech Republic agreed to host the video on its Web site, and the Dutch government tried unsuccessfully to convince Wilders not to release the film.

Closer to home, PBS last year tried to suppress “Islam vs. Islamists: Voices from the Muslim Center,” which was critical of radical jihadists. Fox News agreed to air the film.

And only one major newspaper in the U.S. reprinted any of the controversial 2005 Danish cartoons that mocked Islam and Muslims.

“Free societies hold freedom of speech to be a fundamental human right,” writes Rep. Hoekstra, the ranking Republican on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

“We don’t silence, jail, or kill people with whom we disagree just because their ideas are offensive or disturbing . . .

“What is particularly disturbing about these assaults against modern society is how the West has reacted with appeasement, willful ignorance, and a lack of journalistic criticism . . .

“I do not defend the right of Geert Wilders to air his film because I agree with it. I expect I will not . . . I defend the right of Mr. Wilders and the media to air this film because free speech is a fundamental right that is the foundation of modern society. Western governments and media outlets cannot allow themselves to be bullied into giving up this precious right due to threats of violence.”

ABC Nightly News did a story tonight on the rapidly rising cost of food in America. The cost of some box cereal is now about $8.00. I have to give a liberal news source credit for admitting that a big reason for this is that farmers have quit growing grain and switch to corn for the ethanol subsidies, not to mention that corn is now used for ethanol and not food.

We have already learned that ethanol is more damaging to the environment than gasoline, so why are we still hurting ourselves like this?

Mr. dare2, I saw the Fitna film. It’s just a bunch of video clips collected off the web.

What makes the film repugnant is the attempt at tying it to the Qur’an. Also, the demeaning caricatures.

How would Christian people feel if Jesus or the virgin Mary were portrayed in demeaning caricatures? Angry, I am sure. Should Muslims just be happy to have Islam defamed? Muslims, by the way, would also be angry about demeaning attacks on Jesus or the virgin Mary.

Certainly people when constantly violated and oppressed by the US - Israeli - British policy are going to say and sometimes do things that are violent. You can’t expect that no one in a group will attempt in some way to fight back against their attackers.

Of course there are always extremist groups. If under constant attack and oppression, the way Muslims are, extremist “Christian” groups would likely form, and also turn to violent, desperate acts.

Anyone concerned about the violent, desperate acts of some Muslim people, should take a close look at the US policy of violent subjugation of Muslim people. It places things in perspective.

dare2sayit.com says:

March 30th, 2008 at 7:32 pm

Leland,

Thanks for viewing the Fitna film. We disagree on this, but I’m glad you saw it.

By the way, your comment:
“How would Christian people feel if Jesus or the virgin Mary were portrayed in demeaning caricatures?”

It happens all the time Leland, but Christians don’t go out and kill people who insult Christianity, unlike the Muslims who kill in the name of Islam.

Mr dare2, Once I stopped allowing myself to be spoon-fed by the American media, and started doing my own research, I was in for a rude awakening and unpleasant discovery:

Those we are told are the good guys, are really most often the bad guys. Those portrayed as the bad guys, are mostly good guys. It’s almost always the case, not just with the Muslim issue. Bad guys are just really good at manipulating the media and controlling the flow of information (disinformation?).

I welcome you to stay on Katherine’s blog, to offer alternative points of view, that are often lacking.

You express yourself much better than I could ever express myself. You are very knowledgeable about the issues. Plus, it is fun to read your sparring matches with some of the others that post here. Please stay on the blog.

Thanks, leland8, but you give me too much credit.

As much as it pains me, I’ve pretty much given up on American society ever righting the ship, as it were. All over I see ignorance, paranoia, hate among the masses, and a psychotic greed among elites.

Who will pull us out of the quagmire?

Better to continue investing my money - overseas - and move away from this land of dysfunction as soon as I can.

Having said that, I must acknowledge that the US does feature a good number of fantastic people and still-great institutions, but on balance this country just gets less and less hospitable and attractive as a place to live.

And for that I lay much of the blame at the feet of KK(K), and her national-level models Kristol, Limbaugh, Malkin, etc. - and their massive and merry band of ignorant butt boys who couldn’t recognize their own self interest if it bit them in the arse.

I googled. Your correct.

per Economagic.com

2007 01 0.6016
2007 02 3.8213
2007 03 4.9072
2007 04 0.5776

I didn’t realize that the carter years were better economically growth wise that the first 4 years of Reagan.

Can you imagine though how bad it would be for the little guy(the consumer) if the banking system crashed ala 1929? The bailout of the industry IS a bailout of the consumer. But a few EXECS should get fried ala skilling, fastow and Ley.

Keep a monthly eye on these reports to figure out If we have negative growth before the 1/4ly reports come out? Or is it not that simple?

Its the QTRly GDP growth that determines the recession. You could potentially do it that way if you had REALLY good acurate data. Sometimes they go back after the fact and readjust the numbers for monthly GDP reports if new info comes out and they realize the numbers were off.

4blahs says:

Mr. stevek, I am aware of where Europe is and what constitutes America. Yes, I think of you as a blog friend. You are the nicest fascist I know. Actually, the only pure, 100% fascist I know.

The Fitna film that impressed you so much was a collection of old clips, most of which have been on You Tube. The offensive part was tying this nonsensical patchwork to the Qur’an and insulting Muslim people. The demeaning caricatures in the film furthered the offensiveness. It is a hate film, directed at Islam and at Muslim people. I understand why you like it.

Sorry Mr. stevek, but my anticipated conversion to Islam took a detour into limbo, before your jack boots arrived on the scene. You can’t take any credit. Mr. dare2 and Mr G, are familiar with the circumstances regarding said detour.

Next time I see Irv, I will let him know he is my “imaginary friend”. I will try to get Irv to come on the blog. He is great at kicking fascist butt.

“G.S.A.H.A. advocated dropping bombs on people.”

That’s silly. Everyone know you can get a lot more of them if you set the bombs to airburst.

Dropping them ON people is a waste of perfectly good high explosive.

Thanks, Minnesota Nice.

I see why you’re so intent on preserving your culture from the threats you perceive.

It’s so erudite, so gentle, so evolved, so welcoming.

Truly a shining example unto the world. A real gem.

A Lutheran like me would be lost without such enlightenment and encompassing warmth.

BM hey go into the backyard of your parents 1.5 million dollar home in Eden Prairie and make a “Dick Cheney” snowman.

Or at the end of the driveway…after dark…while the plows are out.

BM,

In your mind, did the United States ever fight in a war which was worth the cost? If so, which ones?

somewhere in the bowels of minnesota sits a pimply faced youth, living in his mommy’s basement raging against the injustices of the world. armed with one-half of a clue and a prescription for prozac he spends his time blogging, railing against neo-cons and pretty much everything else, in a don quixote kind of way. a little bit of a sad existence to be sure, but im sure his mommy loves him.

Michael Blaine aka BM,
I got it, i got it. I got something you can relate to.
The best way to read your posts is with the voice of Plankton from Sponge Bob Square Pants. You know, the little green guy thats always tying to steal Mr Crab’s Crabby Burger recipe at the Crusty Crab Resturant. Reading your posts this way makes you come accross as very authoritative.
OK. Your right. At 12 years old you might be a little bit old for Sponge Bob.
Anyhoo, your still an idiot craving attention. Hows that upper lip doin?

From the article DJ cites above:

‘A tour in Afghanistan from March to September 2004 introduced Mr. Hall to war. He went to Iraq next and on June 14, 2005, during a foot patrol in Anbar Province, an improvised explosive device blew up a few feet from him, changing his life forever. His parents described a brutal recovery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., with as many as 20 operations. And when he returned home to Jeffersonville, Ind., a few months later, it was clear that his mind was wounded too.

“He didn’t really sleep,” said his mother, Becky Hall. “He woke up screaming. He kept a pistol under his pillow because he was afraid.”’

I’m sure the other pro-war commenters here - along with self-proclaimed hero Hegseth - will agree with me that the above, while regrettable, at the end of the day is inconsequential when we consider the magnitude of the threat we face.

Islamo-fascists want to destroy us all, and we will stand united while we continue to serve up our youth for battle.

That some die is just a hard fact. That’s war, and freedom isn’t free. We should not look back, we should not vacillate, as we carry the crusade forward. To do otherwise would only embolden the enemy, who we must fight either over there or here at home.

It’s a matter of the very survivial of Western Civilization. So if some our nation’s kids, our bravest and finest, end up physically and emotionally shattered in the effort, well - we never said this effort would be easy.

And if only the Cavalcade of Self-Proclaimed Heroes could enter our public schools to tell our kids this fact: that sometimes we must make the ultimate sacrifice, whether by death in Mesopatamia or by confinement at home in a mental insitution or homeless shelter.

If only our kids could know - through the wise and sage words of the 27-year-old self-promoter Hegseth and his Calvacade of Self-Proclaimed Heroes - that this is the finest thing to which they could ever aspire: To die a premature and painful death at taxpayer expense, or at a bare minimum slowly lose their minds once the military has used them up.

If only our kids could know that this is the most that we the American nation could ever wish upon them.

Never mind that there were no WMD, that there is no democracy, that the oil still does not flow. Never mind that the country teeters on the brink of financial collapse, buried under mountains of debt. Never mind all that.

Because a violent and early death, or a brush with it that leaves one an emotional shambles, proves beyond all doubt that one is a real patriot and worthy of worship and emulation by one’s fellow citizens.

The kids must hear this inspiring message, because as the soldiers die or go on “medical leave” we will need replacements. And our old men in Washington must continue to send the young to the sacrifice as a testimony to our national greatness, and proof of our superiority vis-a-vis our many terrible and implacable enemies.

May The Judeo-Christian God Bless Us All In Our Holy And Noble Efforts!

I had a great time at the baseball game tonight. The Dome was great, protecting us from the snowstorm, one of the surest signs of spring we’ve seen this year. You see…I, for one, know that the daily fluctuations of the weather don’t tell anyone anything about whether the planet is warming or not.

Obama’s “punishment” statement:
I have never, to my knowledge, repeated McCain’s quote about a “100-year war”, so you can dispense with that argument. I still think that Obama’s quote needs more context to be understood. Just as I don’t know what McCain was actually discussing, I don’t know what Obama was discussing, either.
